Lyrics for a friend is a choreographic and musical project created by six hands and performed by two voices. Paula Ramis, Magalí Camps and Júlia Miquel immerse themselves in the dynamics and construction of musical stage performance, through its different formats and genres. Extracting the complexities of gesture, social and choreographic conventions that are established on stage, they reflect on the theatrical apparatus behind the music.

The project looks into the staging of concerts and musical events, exploring the frontality of these representations and playing with concepts such as in/visibility, studying the cinematic and dramatic aesthetic of the stage. Lyrics for a friend offers a new look at elements of performance and music through resources such as synchronisation, distortion and resonance, using the body as a vehicle of expression.

Lyrics for a friend has arisen from Paula Ramis, Magalí Camps and Júlia Miquel’s shared interest in pooling their choreographic practices, based on the collective baggage and experience they have built up through their personal bond and work on dance.
