Tools for Action

L'animal a l'esquena (Celrà)
From 16/06/2025 to 20/06/2025

Mal Pelo
( Mal Pelo, Pep Ramis, María Muñoz )

Mal Pelo offers a workshop in which to try out the mechanisms of action and what they may unleash. A look at movement and writing with the body in action.

Precision, duration, commitment, intensity, silence, absence, presence, punctuation, habitability, surrender, phrasing, punctuation, linearity, temporality, musicality, rhythm, writing - these are some of the terms that we shall be questioning during this course.

Activate:
Carry out an action.
Carry out movements and gestures to make something understood.
Activate a mechanism.

Mal Pelo workshops are given by the company’s two co-directors, though both may not be present at any given session.

cuadro # 2: el codo/picture #2: the elbow

L'animal a l'esquena (Celrà)
From 30/06/2025 to 05/07/2025

Idoia Zabaleta
( Idoia Zabaleta )

cuadro #2: el codo/picture #2: the elbow is part of a performance triptych entitled Articulaciones, which the collective Parasite has been immersed in creating since October 2024. The inspiration for the research for the second picture comes from the events which occurred at the gates of the Sala Baratza in Vitoria Gasteiz on September 19th 2024.

That night Unai was arrested by the municipal police of Vitoria Gasteiz for refusing to stop recording the arrest of another person outside the venue. He was overpowered and later taken to the police station.

The research looks into the circumstances that led to these events, the physical interaction between the two bodies, the force used by one against the other, the arc of the fall, the extreme bending of the elbow and the shape that resulted.

During their residency at L’animal a l’esquena, the collective will be accompanied by Idoia Zabaleta Morán, who was present when they were examining and analysing the relevant factors in the events of that night.

L’ARREPLEGADA is a festival of live arts and a space for professional dialogue. On the one hand, it offers shows created by and for young people, and on the other, encourages reflection on emerging performance creation, with the aim of giving visibility and professionalism to new talent in the performance arts.

The festival acts as a platform to nurture a decentralised, active artistic network, with guidance and space for young and emerging artists, whether local, from around the country or from abroad, to share ideas, get to know each other and mutually enrich each other. This initiative promotes artists’ visibility and creative communication, providing a key meeting point for innovative emerging talent. Through a programme of performances, debates and professional activities, L’ARREPLEGADA offers valuable new opportunities and encourages the constant renewal of contemporary creativity.

The festival programme is drawn up in two stages to guarantee that involvement is diverse, inclusive and complete:
In the first phase, we invite artists from different backgrounds to take part in the programme so as to guarantee a rich and varied representation.
In the second phase, we open up a call for entries to the public, allowing everyone to take part, regardless of their origins, identity or previous experience.
Next, we choose the proposals received that best meet the values of the festival and bring innovative and relevant perspectives to the season, thus ensuring that the programme is diverse, fair and representative.
In the hope of promoting a variety of languages and formats in contemporary performance, the call for entries welcomes innovative proposals that explore new paths in artistic expression, tackling current concerns and avant garde themes of discussion.

Toda la práctica gira en torno al cuerpo y su fisicalidad, un viaje continuo, donde el objetivo es desorientar a los participantes y practicar diferentes maneras de ser, estar y moverse “haciendo lo que no sabes como si supieras hacerlo”.

“When the child was a child, it walked with arms hanging, wanted the stream to be a river and the river a torrent and this puddle the sea…/…it did not know it was a child, everything for it was filled with life and all life was one…/…it didn’t have an opinion about a thing, had no habits … When the child was a child, it hurled a stick like a lance into a tree, and it’s still quivering there today.”
