Another visit from Mónica Valenciano and her group of performers, who have accompanied her for years in this research - the G.I.B. (Dance Research Group) - , exploring and delving into different aspects of language, such as access to the voice of the body in its polyphony.
Finding a better approach to this more focussed composition … The life of the space as a weaving, or living body, in the organic sense of a framework that can bind the structure together, from its bones or skeleton to its elasticity, circulation, modulations, tactile and textural possibilities… towards a manifestation of ways, within this contact, that allow us fresh access to the flow of meaning through the senses, that is to say, opening folds and cracks of attention, opening up holes in the language and voice of the body, tentatively attending to this breathing in and with the space.
In the workshops we also learn to form new tools and devices to reveal spatial relationships in-situ, offering unusual situations in how we inhabit the place, through different perceptions of time that observe how sequences occur simultaneously, like a polyphony within one field of action. Other implications, such as a performer’s radar being more horizontal or spaced out, can reach and offer subtle registers and types of repercussions, that resonate with the spectator.
