Arantxa Martínez is an artist, dancer and performer, whose work centres around the processes of identification, exchange and dependence between the body and its environment, and questions performativity in relation to these processes.
A resident of Berlin since 2003, her artistic activity covers a wide range of aesthetics, methods and content thanks to her long-standing, regular collaboration with other artists such as Kate Mcintosh, Juan Dominguez, Pau Roig, Sabine Zahn, Miriam Jakob, Eszter Salomon, Alice Chauchat , Thiago Granato, Nilo Gallego, Antònia Baehr, Maria Jerez, Lola Rubio … with whom she creates practices, pieces and research projects that reach into urban space, theatre, cabaret and, most recently, the mountains.
Her work includes: From Behind Ajo Over, 2022, This is Not Normal 2021, a project in collaboration with Juan Dominguez, Medusa Rise 2019, AvantGarten 2017 - an animated garden created for the SommerFestival in Hamburg in collaboration with Juan Dominguez, Très muy claro, Emisiones Cacatúa. Special Issue, 2012 -a radio project in collaboration with Nilo Gallego-, The Present 2010/2012 -in collaboration with Lola Rubio-, En el Oeste del Pecos, 2007; Jota, a folk-striptease in 4'', 2007; Trofeo, 2003; Del impatience de celui quién regarde dormir, 1999 -in collaboration with Remi Héritier.
As a performer she has worked for Martine Pissani, Phillipe Saire, Mathilde Monnier, Hermana Civera and Tino Sehgal, among others.
From 2002 to 2007 she worked regularly with the music group Velma, with whom she created three pieces: Requiem, 2007, Velma Superstar, 2005 and Rondo, 2002.
