Jorge Dutor
Grew up to the beat of the transient structures of Spain in the nineties: the EXPO of Seville, the Barcelona Olympics… Graduated in set design at RESAD while combining his studies with work as a DJ and art director on EGO Cibeles. Since then, he has worked as a set designer, lighting and costume director in film, theatre and television. In 2009 he wanted to take a sabatical, but met Guillem Mont de Palol and stepped out from behind the camera to create his own stage pieces and perform them. Since then, under the name Mont de Dutor, they have premiered ten pieces of work in theatres, arts centres and festivals in Europe and Latin America.
His research travels a whole ring-road of disciplines. He considers possibilities that are questioned from the periphery rather than the centre. His main interest is communication between the spectator and what is happening on stage, seeing the stage as a chanel. He has taken part in collective creative processes such as the films by Juan Rodrigáñez, “Derechos del hombre” (“Human Rights”) “El complejo del dinero” (“Money Complex”) and “Der geldkomplex”, which was shown at the Berlinale in 2015. Since 2020 part of his artistic work has been on costumes for dance and performance, working with choreographers such as: Bea Fernández, Sofia Asencio, Xesca Salvà, Albert Quesada, Laila Tafur and Pere Faura.
